Obtaining a University Staff Card for the first time

Your department will generate a request for a staff card for you as a part of the new starters administration process. During this time you will be asked to upload a digital, passport-style photograph. This process will be activated once a HR Staff Record has been created.

Card Information

Staff cards are issued to all members of staff at the University of Portsmouth who are registered in our staff Human Resources system. Your University card has the following uses:

Identification: You are required to carry your University card at all times whilst on University premises, the card should be viewable at all times to confirm your identification.

Library: Your University card provides access to library services, allowing you to borrow and renew loans. For more information on library facilities available, please click here.

Access Control: You can use your University card to gain access to University buildings associated to your Department or role.

University Bus: On production of your University card, you are entitled to use the University bus service. For more information on University of Portsmouth travel information, please click here.

Expiry Date: This is not relevant for staff, so you don't have to request a new card if the expiry date has passed.


Stolen card

If your staff card is lost or stolen, please report the loss or theft to campus.security@port.ac.uk.
