We encourage you to register your University Microsoft account with Microsoft MFA. This is similar to the University's own MFA methods but only protects Microsoft software and services. 

If you already have MFA set up for M365, you do not need to reregister unless you are using an unsupported method 

 

How to register 

  1. Visit https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info 

  2. Click Add sign-in method 

  3. Choose the method you would like to add – the University strongly suggests you use the free Microsoft Authenticator app. 

  4. Follow the instructions to add your sign-in method. You can add more than one method. 
     

How to change or update your security information 

Add a new method 

  1. Visit https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info 

  2. To add a new method click Add sign-in method 

  3. Choose the method you would like to add – the University strongly suggests you use the free Microsoft Authenticator app. 

  4. Follow the instructions to add your sign-in method. You can add more than one method. 
     

Remove a method 

  1. Visit https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info 

  2. Click Delete next the method you would like to remove. 

  3. Follow the instructions to remove the method. 
     

Available methods 

You can use the following methods for MFA: 

  • Microsoft Authenticator App (Push Notifications) - recommended 

  • Microsoft Authenticator App (Phone sign-in) 

  • Third party software OATH token – e.g. Google Authenticator 

  • SMS 
     

The following methods cannot be used for MFA: 

  • Office phone 

  • Voice call 

  • Email
