The IT Training team have a number of free solutions in place to support student IT Training and digital skills. These include online learning solutions such as scheduled training sessions on common applications and personlised IT skills coaching and linkedinlearning.com.
Student IT Training courses
Training is available for applicatations such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Google Apps and will help students with digital skills for studying as well as those needed for placements and employability. Students are able to book on sessions that are shown on the calendar. To book a place on any of these courses, please email ittraining@port.ac.uk with your student number and the course you would like to book. Please ensure you are available to attend the whole session.
LinkedIn Learning
LinkedIn Learning offers over 10,000 courses on business, technical and creative skills and is free to all students and staff.
Digital Skills Certificate
Designed to promote digital capability for study and employability, the Digital Skills Certificate is Moodle based and uses resources from linkedinlearning.com. It is an online course that can be studied at anytime at the students' own pace. Based on the Jisc Digital Capability Framework, a certificate is gained after completing a course from each module of the framework, this can be added to LinkedIn and will go on the HEAR transcript.

Digital Capability discovery tool
The Jisc Digital Capability discovery tool is an empowering first step for students and staff to self-assess digital capabilities and to identify current strengths and areas of development. The tool produces a report with recommendations for areas to develop, linked to some excellent resources.
