The Additional Support and Disability Advice Centre takes many enquiries from third parties but unfortunately we are unable to respond to this contact without specific permission from our students. Third party can include parents, guardians, carers and siblings.
Our work has to comply with the General Data Protection Regulations which states permission has to be given freely. Therefore, we cannot accept email permission to disclose unless from their specific University student email account. Nor will we ask for permission from our students, or potential student, if a third party is present at any interview, meeting or Open Day. We will always encourage individuals to indicate with whom they are happy for us to contact and record this information for our own use.
We appreciate that this can be frustrating for anyone who may have concerns for a particular individual. The University has specific guidelines for these occasions and any telephone or email enquiry will be referred to these guidelines - guidance-and-support/health-and-wellbeing/support-in-a-crisis/concerned-about-a-student
