Our Placement Preparation Programme continues throughout the summer to help you get ahead of the game in the second year. We'll give you the essential information you need to successfully find and apply for placements at the start of your second year - when most vacancies open.

Where and how to search for placements

In this session you will learn how to identify your skills and interests to help you search and apply for placements suitable for you. You'll hear about recommended job boards and industry-specific resources and given a live demo of MyCareer, the University's student and graduate jobs board.
Creating a competitive CV and cover letter for placements

In this session you will find out how to write a stand-out CV and cover letter when applying for placements. You'll learn how to structure your CV effectively, highlight relevant skills and achievements, and how to tailor applications to specific roles and industries.
Creative CV tips for placements

In this session, you'll learn how to create a visually appealing and impactful CV that highlights your skills and experiences effectively when applying.
Using MyCareer for placements

In this session you'll learn how to navigate MyCareer, the University's jobs board when applying for placements. You'll be given a full demo on how to make the most of the resources available to you.
Placements in large vs small companies

In this session, you'll learn about the differences and benefits of working for a large or SME (small to medium enterprise). You'll find out about the common application processes and what to expect during the interview stages.
Getting ready to apply for placements - top tips

In this session, you'll be given top tips and a boost of motivation to get application ready for when placements open in September. You'll be given an insight into top employers to look out for, with key dates and timelines.
