Our Placement Preparation Programme continues into the summer, designed exclusively for students heading into their second year of undergraduate study with an optional placement year. We'll give you the essential information you need to successfully find and apply for placements at the start of your second year - when most vacancies open.
Placement Top Tips - Searching and Applying for Placements: ALL SUBJECTS
Understand your options when it comes to Placements, get an overview of where to start when it comes to searching for roles, and get advice on how to apply using CV's and Cover Letters.
This session will be repeated throughout the summer to ensure you are ready to start applying at the start applying next year. As a result, you will only need to attend one of these sessions.

In this session, we will be covering expectations from the creative industries when it comes to Placements. This will include:

Placements in STEM related industries: Searching and Applying for Placements
Thursday 2 July, 12pm-1pm, Online
In this session we will be covering what to expect from STEM related industries when it comes to Placements. This will include:
- A guest talk from AWE (Nuclear Security Technologies) to explain their placement offer and to answer questions
- Top tips when considering roles in industries such as Advanced Manufacturing, Clean Energy, Defence, Digital and Technologies, Automotive companies
- How to approach application forms and assessment centres
- Early recruiters and deadlines
- A chance to ask questions
Placements in the Professional and Business Services: Searching and Applying for Placements
Monday 13 July, 11am-12pm, Online
In this session we will be covering what to expect from professional and business related industries when it comes to Placements. This will include:
- Top tips when considering roles in Business Services such as finance, HR, marketing, project management, sales
- Pros and cons of working for large or small companies
- What to expect from psychometric tests and assessment centres
