Get support through your phone

Through the WhatsUp App you can talk anonymously via text with practitioners, and use it as a space to monitor your mood

The WhatsUp app is a quick and anonymous way to chat via text with practitioners at the Student Wellbeing Service (during office hours). The app also provides a personal space to monitor your mood and express thoughts, feelings, and emotions.

  • Supportive and confidential text chat

WhatsUp is supported by the Student Wellbeing Service and is monitored Monday – Friday from 8.30am–5.00pm by Wellbeing staff. It is not a crisis service and is not checked constantly, especially during peak times of year.

Out of hours help

Messages sent out of hours will be picked up the next working day. The SOS function links to 24/7 crisis support from the Samaritans phone line or the CAM crisis text service. .

You'll need your University of Portsmouth Student ID to sign up to the app. You'll be able to use the app anonymously once your ID has been validated. We will only find out who you are if we have serious concerns that you are at risk of harming yourself or somebody else. Or you can choose to waive your anonymity if you are also registered for support with the Student Wellbeing Service.
