A graduate scheme is a structured, time-limited program offering training and development, often with rotations between various departments. Applications open around October and November so now is a great time to see if a graduate scheme would be good for you.

Adding professional experience to your CV and applications will set you apart from other graduates. There are a number of ways you can approach this including:
- Take part in our new one-day Changemaker Challenge and work in teams to propose an innovative solution to a real challenge, presented by a real graduate recruiter.
- Speculatively contact employers to enquire about work experience opportunities
- Research companies through social media, and network with employers using platforms such as LinkedIn or Instagram
- Take part in a Virtual Internship - complete real workplace tasks set by prominent employers.
- Utilise online learning to enhance your knowledge

As we approach the end of the year, now is a great time to look back at 2023 and acknowledge the progress you have made during this year. This may include:
- Taking part in a sports or social club
- Completing a group assignment
- Delivering a presentation
- Gaining some work experience.
While you reflect on your achievements, you should consider enrolling on The Portsmouth Award to receive recognition for developing your skills and experience.

Our Graduate Recruitment Consultancy is a free, on-campus graduate recruitment service available to final-year students and graduates from the University of Portsmouth. Simply complete one of the online registration forms and upload your CV. A consultant will then be in touch to find out more about your interests and the type of work you are looking for.
Applying for graduate roles or further study isn't always straightforward. You have to consider personal statements, interviews and maybe even assessment centres. That's why we run a regular programme of events designed to help you tackle the application processes! Our skills sessions include:
