We’re working hard to address the issues caused by the IT incident.

Here’s a summary of some recent updates about accessing the services you need, and what we’re doing to mitigate the impacts on you.

Accessing VPN and AppsAnywhere

The VPN service for students has now been reintroduced and is available for you to use.

To increase security you will need to use multi-factor authentication (MFA) using a Time-based One Time Password (TOTP) each time you log in. More details about how to access the VPN are on MyPort.

Much of the software from AppsAnywhere  is now available again. There are some that we are still working hard to reintroduce. Please keep checking back on AppsAnywhere for specific software.

If you have any issues connecting to the VPN or for difficulties with software you can contact servicedesk@port.ac.uk.

Coursework deadlines

Remember to regularly check your module Moodle page to keep up to date on the latest coursework deadlines.

We have automatically adjusted coursework deadlines to compensate you for the issues created by the IT incident.

Extenuating Circumstances

If your coursework was affected due to the IT incident you do not need to submit an individual Extenuating Circumstance (EC). We have already put in place coursework extensions to reflect the disruption that the IT incident has caused.  We will keep under review any further changes to ECs that will be appropriate to support students.

If there are other factors impacting your ability to complete and submit your coursework, for example ill health, then please speak to your MyPort Hub. The Students’ Union also has an advice service that can help.
