Language and Social Interaction across Europe

Our project aims at comparing how people interact and communicate with each other in specific settings across a range of languages and cultures, one of them being English. To this end, we are doing video-recordings of people interacting in the following settings & activity contexts:
1. Families with 2-3 children, aged between 4 and 15 (+/- 1 year), having breakfast on the weekend (or at least without time pressure in the morning).
2. Adult friends or family members (i.e. not children; late teens are fine) playing board games or having a board game night at home (in groups of 4).
3. Three adult friends or family members going on a "longer" car journey out of town (at least 30 mins; e.g. driving to IKEA, taking a trip to an amusement park or a neighbouring town, etc.).
For the English data set, the participants would need to be native speakers of English (or have spent considerable time in the UK and speak English at home).
