We are delighted to announce that Kris Nolan has been elected as the new Graduate School Management Board PGR student representative.
We are very thankful to Thanusha VManohor who has done a fantastic job as the rep for the past two years.
We asked Kris to tell us a little about himself and what he will be hoping to bring to the role.
Hi all,
I'm Kris, a second year PhD candidate in SASSHPL, in Humanities & Social Sciences. My research looks at student political activism within digital media - and is highly interdisciplinary, sitting at the intersection of history, politics and journalism. More widely, my professional life has focused on the student experience. I have been at the University of Portsmouth since 2017, in roles across the University, supporting and enhancing the student experience. Presently, I work for the research centre CEISR, am a Course Rep, President of the PGR Society, and am a Learning Development Tutor.
I am proud to take on the role of Student Representative on the Graduate School's Management Board. I plan to represent PGRS to raise their voices and ensure that their needs and wants are heard to the best of my ability. With my experience, I am well embedded in the student community, and sitting on the GSMB will allow me to support my fellow PGRS, listen and communicate concerns, and have a positive impact on the future of the PGR experience at Portsmouth.
If you would like to have a chat about research, concerns, or your university experience more widely, please drop me an email at kris.nolan@port.ac.uk. Let's get those conversations going!
Best wishes,
Kris
