Survey Title: Truth or lies

Department: Department of Psychology

In this study you will either take part in a mock theft (and then lie about it), or complete a simple task in Victoria park. It takes approximately 45 minutes to complete and you will get £5 for your time.

Participants will either be truth tellers or liars. Liars will take part in a mock theft in St George building, and will lie about the event during an interview. Truth tellers will complete a revision sheet in Victoria park and tell the truth about their experience.

Researchers at the University of Portsmouth are interested in the verbal differences between liars and truth tellers when they are interviewed. In this study, you will be allocated to one of two possible tasks. One task involves rating a revision guide based in Victoria park. The other task involves taking part in a mock theft!! Depending on which task you are allocated to, you may be required to lie when later interviewed.
