CCI facilities and remote support

Our workshops and facilities in the Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries (CCI) will reopen from 8 March 2021. Due to the continuing COVID situation, we need to remain compliant with Government guidance. Please ensure you follow the guidance on testing and on campus conduct circulated by the University before entering any facilities.

This page provides information on individual facilities opening times, procedures and protocols. We’ll continue to provide support remotely to help you with your studies.

Below are details of what we can provide for each facility and who to contact if you have an enquiry, for support remotely or to borrow equipment. 

Remote technical support is available between 8.30am–5.15pm Monday–Thursday and 8.30am–4.15pm on Friday, unless otherwise stated.

Please be aware that, due to demand, colleagues may not be available to answer your questions immediately.

Art Shop

The shop will reopen from Wednesday 21 April 2021. Opening times are Monday–Friday, 10am–12pm and 1pm–3pm only (excluding Bank Holidays).

Access restricted to University staff and student campus card holders. Only one customer at any one time.

In the meantime, advice regarding sourcing materials and suppliers continues to be available remotely; please contact artshop@port.ac.uk.

Eldon Production Centre (EPC)

The EPC will reopen from Monday 8 March 2021. Due to COVID compliance requirements, capacity is limited. Booking systems apply; please ensure you have a confirmed booking before entering the EPC.

Support also continues to be available remotely; please contact michelle.mccabe@port.ac.uk for more information.

Media Loan Store (Eldon Building)

The Loan Store will reopen from Monday 8 March 2021. Please ensure you comply with equipment booking and collection procedures (one person collecting and returning equipment).

Sewing Workshop (Eldon Building)

The workshop will be closed for staff leave from Friday 2–Friday 9 April 2021, during the first week of the Easter break (including Good Friday).

The workshop will reopen from Monday 12 April 2021.

Limited equipment is available to borrow. For more information about eligibility and conditions, please contact your course leader in the first instance.

Fabric Print & Textiles Lab (Eldon Building)

The workshop will be closed for staff leave from Friday 2–Friday 9 April 2021, during the first week of the Easter break (including Good Friday).

The workshop will reopen from Monday 12 April 2021.

Screen-printing, Etching and Letterpress (Eldon Building)

Screen-printing, etching and letterpress facilities will reopen from Monday 8 March 2021. A booking system is in place.

For silkscreen printmaking, letterpress, Intaglio and relief print, please contact printmaking@port.ac.uk.

Open Access IT Suite (1st floor Eldon South) (including large format print)

This facility will reopen from Monday 8 March 2021. Large format print services won't be available until Monday 15 March 2021 due to servicing requirements. Alternative services are available from the central University Print Service.

Please ensure you comply with social distancing and other COVID compliance requirements when using this facility.

Some equipment, such as tablets, may be available to borrow. For more information about eligibility and conditions, please contact your course leader in the first instance.

Some computers are enabled with remote access. Additional guidance on how to connect can be found on the IS Work Anywhere pages. If you have issues connecting remotely to computers, please contact servicedesk@port.ac.uk.

Film Studios (Eldon Building)

These facilities will reopen from Monday 8 March 2021. A booking system is in place.

Video Editing Suite (Eldon South 1.81)

This facility is open for use and some machines are available through remote access.

Technical support is available remotely; please contact luke.robertson@port.ac.uk or paul.nelson@port.ac.uk for more information or to arrange a technical consultation.

TV Studios and Eldon Hub (Eldon and White Swan buildings)

The Eldon TV Studios will be closed between Monday 21 – Friday 25 June 2021 and Monday 5 July – Tuesday 31 August 2021 due to Graduation Live Streaming and Staff Leave. The studios will reopen in September 2021.

This closure has no impact on the White Swan TV Studios.

Photography Studios and loan store (Eldon Building)

These facilities will reopen from Monday 8 March 2021. A booking system is in place.

Theatre Performance Studios (White Swan Building)

Music Studios (Middle Street)

These facilities will reopen from Monday 8 March 2021. Booking won't be available until Monday 15 March 2021.

Motion Capture (Eldon Building)
