The University is proudly sponsoring this year's Portsmouth Pride event to be held on Castle Field in Southsea on 22 June.

The University has always been an enthusiastic supporter of Pride events in the city over the years, and this year has become one of the official sponsors of Portsmouth Pride as the committee, which includes past and current students, develop an even bigger celebration than last year.

Vice-Chancellor, Graham Galbraith said:

Sherria Hoskins, UEB Equality and Diversity Champion and Executive Dean for the Faculty of Science, said: "As a University, we share Portsmouth Pride's ethos of equality and diversity. I'm delighted we can support a local event that provides an opportunity for people to come together to celebrate, not only LGBTQ+ equality but also understanding and respect across all our communities."

As the Portsmouth Pride Committee develop plans for the future, the University will continue to build stronger links with them, as their activities expand and grow.

Staff and students can check Portsmouth Pride's website for volunteering opportunities or support the University stand on the day by emailing equality@port.ac.uk.

We are proud to sponsor this year’s Portsmouth Pride as an organisation that values the contribution that all people, whatever their background, sexual orientation or gender identity, make to create a successful society. Being at University is about more than just learning, it’s about living in a place that’s safe, open and inclusive.
