We have built the underground car park, 25m 8 lane swimming pool, the ground floor that will be home to a 175 station fitness suite, multi-purpose studios and squash courts and the first floor 8 court sports hall.

The crane operator doesn't seem to stop in the video showing building work from October 2019 to August 2020.

Opening in 2022, the £57m building is designed to be one of the UK's greenest sports facilities for our students, staff and the local community. It will look like a pavilion and will connect with the historic Ravelin Park in Old Portsmouth.

Facilities will also include a ski simulator, climbing wall, teaching spaces and café.

A range of classes and courses, personal training and affordable membership with great benefits will be available to play, train and compete.

Sustainable, award-winning design

Designed to be one of the UK’s greenest sports facilities, the building aims to create new standards for sustainability and energy efficiency. The design received an ‘Outstanding’ rating from BREEAM UK, the world’s leading sustainability assessment for buildings. Sustainable features will include:

  • A biodiverse roof, covered in grass and have beehives

  • Pool water will be re-used for toilet flushing

  • Renewable energy will be generated from roof solar panels and internal heat recovery systems
