Celebrate students and staff by nominating them for a Vice-Chancellor's Award
If you know a staff member, student or a member of the local community who deserves to be recognised and has helped make an exceptional contribution to the University or community then please nominate them for a Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Excellence.
Our people are at the heart of all that is good at the University and after a tough year, it’s even more important that we celebrate those who have gone above and beyond. The awards celebrate people involved in the University who have shown innovation, engagement and impact in their work, but we need you to let us know who should be put forward for an award. This year’s awards are also an opportunity to recognise those who have made significant achievements related to the pandemic and to thank them for their contribution.
Last year’s awards highlighted achievements such as five students who helped save the life of a fellow flatmate who fell ill with meningitis, bringing science to life for children with visual impairments, and developing business ideas to solve climate change.
Students helped save the life of their fellow flatmate
The quick thinking of a group of students who share a flat in Chaucer House Unite Halls resulted in fellow flatmate Ben de Souza receiving urgent medical attention for meningitis. The prompt actions were the difference between the student making a recovery or losing his life to the infection.
Make a nomination
You can nominate University students or staff, or any community members who work in partnership with the University, before the closing date on 23 April 2021. Find out what you need to know to make a nomination on our Vice-Chancellor’s Awards webpage.
We will be planning a celebration, either virtually, or in person later in the year if it’s safe to do so, which nominators, award winners, commendation winners and guests will be invited to attend.
Check out previous winners and how we celebrated virtually last year.
