Does your bike need some care and attention? If you would like to learn the skills to keep your bike in great condition, join our Repair and Ride workshops. We'll guide you through the checks needed to keep your bike safe on the road, running smoothly and in tip-top condition.
We want to make cycling more accessible and affordable for students in Portsmouth. Working with the team of experienced mechanics from Southsea Cycles, we aim to teach you the basics of cycle maintenance so that you can make simple repairs at home.
The two workshops are for University of Portsmouth students only. Each session lasts for two hours and we recommend that you attend both to benefit fully from the training.
Each session will teach you how to:
Session 1 (22 November)
- Carry out an M-check (bike maintenance check) to identify issues
- Identify the equipment needed to make repairs and how to use tools you have at home
- Maintain your bike chain
- Change the inner tube when you get a flat tyre
Session 2 (6 December)
- Learn the basics of brakes adjustment
- Learn the basics of gears adjustment
This event is organised by Portsmouth City Council.
