Staff, students and general public needed for research study

2 min read

Help us examine how to best report suspicious activities quickly over the phone.

What will participants be doing?

Participants will use their own computers to join two synchronous online experimental sessions using Zoom (no video, only audio), which will last approximately 90 minutes in total. During the first session (60 minutes), participants will immerse themselves in a virtual environment in which they will see and overhear other people planning a fictitious terrorist attack. They will be asked to immediately report the suspicious activity in a simulated call to the authorities, and again in a second online session (30 minutes) that will take place after 48-72 hours. The interviews will be audio-recorded. Participants will also be asked to complete some ratings about the interviews.

Duration

Online participation takes around 90 minutes across two sessions. The first session is 60 minutes and the second one, after 2 days, is 30 minutes.
