Stay safe with your university Google account – tips from our Cyber Security Team

It's really important to set up two-step verification on your university Google account. Two-step verification is an enhanced security method of logging in, using an authenticator app or a code received by text message, to keep your account more secure than if you just used a password.

It's really easy to set this up:

1. Open your Google Account
2. In the navigation panel, select "Security"
3. Under “How you sign in to Google,” select "2-Step Verification" and then “Get started”
4. Follow the on-screen steps

It is important to set up at least two methods to ensure that you can still access your account if (for example) you lose access to your phone.
