This National Student Money Week is all about coping with the cost of living crisis, and we have a full week of activities planned to help you get a handle on your finances.

National Student Money Week kicks off on Monday 27 February and this year is about helping you cope with the cost of living crisis. During the week we will be around campus running competitions, asking you for your best money saving tips and lots more. 

The week is also about raising awareness of what support is available to you, especially from the Student Finance Centre with the University support fund which is there to help students who encounter financial difficulty.

Finally, there will be a number of informative webinars you can sign up to on issues that are affecting students across the country including gambling, fraud and the cost of living crisis. Make sure you sign up below and be money smart.

Earn easy money by just sitting at home - please note you may go to prison

Students are being targeted more and more by fraudsters trying to get your money and using the current cost of living crisis to take advantage. Gone are the days of getting an email from a prince telling you that you have inherited millions of pounds from a long lost relative. Fraudsters are getting more advanced in their techniques in trying to get you to hand over your cash and this session explores these techniques and ways to protect yourself.

Be Money Smart

This session will look at ways that you can tackle the cost of living crisis including food and bills so that you can still live your best life on a budget. We will run through a number of effective ways to get the most out of your money and it's an opportunity for you to share tips on what you're doing. We will also discuss the University Support Fund and how you can apply to this if you are in financial difficulty.

Ygam are delivering an online 1-hour Gaming and Gambling Harms workshop, open to all students.

Workshop Aims:

  • Increase your knowledge and understanding of gaming and gambling related harm and associated risks.
  • Explore the influences on our behaviour in relation to gaming and gambling.
  • Explore the convergence of gaming and gambling harm.
  • Recognise the signs and impact of gaming and gambling harm.
  • Know how to access support.
