Your first few weeks of uni is a great chance to meet new people, settle into your accommodation and get to know your campus and city.

Join in with a mix of virtual events and face-to-face activities that will help you meet other students, make new friends, explore and join clubs and societies, get to grips with your studies and learn more about life at uni.

Join us for our new Welcome Festival on moving-in weekend at Gun House Green for students and their parents and friends. There is plenty of room for everyone to try some street food, play games, go for a city or seafront walking tour, pick up a free houseplant and ask University staff any questions. 

Drop by anytime during opening hours (no need to check in). Sit back, relax and enjoy your first taste of the campus and city - your new home from home.

  • Need Street Food on site - buy some delicious delicious street food like BBQ + vegan bowls, and loaded fries
  • Terrace Cafe - our catering team will serve breakfast bacon and sausages in the morning and burgers in the afternoon from the BBQ at Terrace Cafe.

  • Support Services Fair  enjoy games and craft, or speak to University staff if you have any questions about student life, housing, finance and wellbeing
  • Mary Rose Museum step back nearly 500 years in time to discover Henry VIII’s favourite warship
  • Living Things try free tasters of their low sugar sparkling soft drinks
  • Andy’s Man Club
  • Girls Who Walk Pompeyrunning events, socials and walks for women
  • Traditional fair games like ring toss, ball in a bucket, play your cards right and Students v Parents Cornhole to win prizes
  • The Union Shop (where you can buy uni hoodies, sweatshirts and merch)
  • And free houseplants  to pick up and brighten your room!

Walking tours

We have a number of walking tours for you to join to help you get to know the city and seafront and our sport and library facilities. Tours will leave from the gazebo in Ravelin Park by the back of the Library at the following times (no booking required):

  • City tour 10.30am and 2.00pm start (45 minute walk). Explore the city and hear first hand what university life is like from our current students
  • Seafront tour 12.00pm start (45 minute walk).  Explore the city and hear first hand what university life is like from our current students
  • Sports and Recreation tour - ad hoc tours between 10.00am and 3.00pm at Ravelin Sports Centre

Car parking

University car parks will be open and available for visitors to park in on Saturday 21 September & Sunday 22 September. As non permit holders, visitors will be charged the standard rate for parking:
