Are you a student looking to broaden your knowledge base beyond your university curriculum? As a registered student, you have access to Coursera’s expansive Career Academy collection. This collection of online courses allows you to explore career pathways while learning flexibly and developing cutting-edge skills. Each pathway features a number of smaller courses and guided projects which feature professional certificates on completion.

There are 24 career pathways to explore including Cybersecurity Analyst, Front-End Developer, Data Scientist, Social Media Marketer, Project Manager and Bookkeeper.

While the resources on Coursera may not be directly aligned with the learning outcomes of your module, they offer a chance to explore topics that may not be covered in your degree program and improve your employability skills and bolster your CV.

It is important to note that Coursera resources are not reviewed by University of Portsmouth staff as the Coursera catalogue is too large. We are conducting a Coursera evaluation project and will not be normalising the use of Coursera resources across the University.

We suggest that you give serious consideration to this valuable opportunity to expand your knowledge and improve your career prospects.

600 Coursera licenses are available to students on a first-come first-served basis between July and December 2023. To sign up follow the link below and select ‘Join’ and then ‘SIGN UP’, using your myport.ac.uk email address.

A feedback form including a star rating is available at the end of each Coursera resource. We encourage students who sign up to complete this form to help us evaluate the Coursera resources on offer.

Careers and Employability Support

If you’re exploring your career options you may also be interested in the career guides produced by the Careers and Employability Support service at the University. These guides will help you to better understand the sector you'd like to work in and some of the job roles available in it. This will give you an idea of what routes you could take and what skills are needed.
