Karen Blackett OBE

Our Chancellor, Karen Blackett OBE, is a former University of Portsmouth student. A proven and experienced business leader, Karen Blackett has a record of accomplishment in creating vibrant cultures, energising teams, and consistently delivering business growth.

Karen is known for her transformative work with large, multi-disciplined and diverse teams delivering consistent commercial success. She began her media career in 1993 at CIA MediaNetwork and was quickly head-hunted by The Media Business Group, where she received many promotions, starting in the Board of Directors in 1999 and moving to Chairwoman of MediaCom UK & Ireland in 2016.

While at MediaCom, she created and launched an Apprenticeship Scheme for 18-24-year olds, one of her proudest achievements. Under Karen’s leadership as CEO, MediaCom was voted Agency of the Year by industry magazine Campaign for an unprecedented two years in a row, 2013 and 2014.

She was appointed Chancellor of the University of Portsmouth in 2017.

Tim Campbell MBE

Awarded the MBE for Enterprise Culture in the 2012 New Year’s Honours List, Tim is the founder of his own entrepreneurial social enterprise, Bright Ideas Trust, small business owner and co-author of one of Amazon’s Top 10 business books for 2010, ‘What’s Your Bright Idea?’.

As an in-demand speaker who is passionate about the power of business, Tim has been privileged to speak to global audiences and comment on a variety of topical matters, regularly appearing on BBC television and in broadsheet newspapers.

With a firm belief in education as a facilitator of social mobility, he currently sits on the City of London Education board and is Chair of Governors at an outstanding London secondary school.

 

Nishma Patel Robb

Nishma Patel Robb

Nishma Patel Robb is a trailblazing marketing, technology, and DEI advocacy leader.

With a distinguished career at Google and as the Founder/CEO of The Glittersphere, she empowers female creators and drives meaningful cultural change. Her expertise in human-centred campaigns, inclusive cultures, and the intersection of tech and social good makes her a sought-after voice.

She champions diversity and innovation as the (former) 101st President of WACL and the current President of the History of Advertising Trust. Nishma is a Fellow of the IPA and The Marketing Society and a passionate advocate for a more equitable future.

 

Dr Tevin Tobun

Dr Tevin Tobun

Tevin Tobun is a successful entrepreneur, tech leader, and philanthropist with a 23-year career in technology and logistics.

He founded businesses like ROUTD Technology, Platebox, and Foodmove, handling over 30 million meals annually, valued at over £400 million. He has also founded The Tobun Foundation to support disadvantaged youth through education.

He serves on several university boards and leads initiatives empowering minority leaders. Recognised as one of the most influential Black Britons, he holds honorary doctorates from Middlesex University and the University of East London, and was inducted into the Dr. Martin Luther King Board of Sponsors at Morehouse College.

 

Dr Tevin Tobun

Dr Samantha Tross

Samantha Tross is a trailblazing Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, the UK's first Black female orthopaedic surgeon and Europe's first woman to perform Mako Robotic Hip Surgery.

Born in Guyana and educated in the UK, she has trained across the globe in hip and knee surgery. A leader in her field, she is Secretary of the International Orthopaedic Diversity Alliance and a founding member of the British Association of Black Surgeons.
