An important next step in online security
We are continually improving our IT security, to protect all of our users and their information.
An important next step in protecting students and staff includes introducing multi-factor authentication (MFA) for all users of Moodle from Wednesday 12 April during the Easter Break when usage of Moodle is usually lower. MFA is something many students and staff will already be familiar with from other platforms.
For students logging into Moodle when on your home, mobile or other network, the system will send a one-time-passcode to the personal email address you currently have in your Student View (which in most cases will be the personal email address you used when applying to the University).
You will not need to use MFA if you’re:
- using a computer on campus including lab, open and access and library computers
- using a personal device connected to the on campus WiFi
- using the University’s Virtual Private Network (VPN)
What you can do now to prepare
To help make Moodle access quicker from 12 April, you can check or update your personal email by going to your student view.
More information can be found on our MFA MyPort Article.
If you have any questions, or issues using MFA or accessing Moodle please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We offer a range of ways to do this, detailed on our IT Support page. Urgent IT issues should always be raised with your Student IT Help Desk, or by calling the IT Service Desk on 02392 84 7777.
