When you graduate or withdraw from your course, your access to services will be affected. See below for the effects and timescales of different University services.

IT services ( N drive, Log ins, VPN, AppsAnywhere)

When you graduate, you will lose access 5 months after the end date of your course (not the date of graduation).

If you withdraw from your course, you will lose access after 3 months from your date of withdrawal.

Email accounts

You will have your University email account for 2 years after you leave. Passwords can only be changed by Service Desk (or our out of hours service) after your account has been deactivated as you will not be able to log in to password self service.

Office 365

Office 365 will go in to read-only mode once your subscription expires. You will not be able to renew unless you have an active computer account.

University Library

Journal access

Journal access is available as long as your computer account is live, so after graduation or withdrawal, this will remain active for 3 or 5 months.

Building access

Library access is governed by course end date which the Library take from Student Records. However, the Library then extend the end date until the end of July for final year students.

Second attempt assessments

Continuing students taking 2nd attempt assessments in late July will have access to full IT services without intervention. For final year students, your IT services will still be available (as 5 months would not have passed). You should have access to the Library until the ned of July but if you wish to borrow books you will need to speak with someone in the library and this facility is managed on a case by case basis.

Withdrawal of service (WoS)

If you are unable to log in to a computer and there is no obvious reason why (check network connectivity, spelling of username etc.) please contact the Service Desk who can check your account status for withdrawal of service.

There are several reasons this may happen, including:

  • Non-attendance or engagement of studies - put in place by their department, you will need to contact your departmental office to have such restrictions removed.
  • Unpaid Library Fees - if you haveoutstanding library fines for more than a set period your account will be disabled. Paying off the fine at the Issue Desk will remove the restriction.
  • Unpaid Tuition Fees - similar to Library Fines above, paying off the debts at University house will remove the restriction.
  • Various other University departments and processes can enact WoS.

At IS we have no control over the decision to withdraw or reinstate services. You will need to contact whoever has restricted their account who will then instruct IS to reinstate their services. This process is not instantaneous and students should be advised that reinstatement can take several days and should therefore plan accordingly.

If you are in your final year, any debts outstanding with the University will stop youfrom graduating.
