Training, mentoring and support with Digital Skills

Welcome to Digital Skills

The Digital Skills team are here to help you boost your digital confidence, ensuring you can effectively use the tools available at the University.  We offer the following training and support:

  • Scheduled sessions, including the University IT Induction for new staff which is mandatory training for all new staff 
  • Customised training for groups of staff
  • Digital Skills Training for Students 
  • Beyond training we create resources such as videos and guides for systems being used across the University.

Regardless of your current knowledge or preferred learning style, we are here to support you.

Currently Bookable Training Courses

We are currently offering a selection of Business as Usual (BAU) training courses designed to support staff in developing practical digital skills across key systems and tools.

Our current BAU courses:

  • University IT Induction for New Staff

    Mandatory training for all new staff as part of their induction.

  • Service Manager Introduction

    An overview of the University’s Service Manager platform and its core features.

  • Interrogate and Explore Power BI Dashboards

    Learn how to access, navigate, and analyse Power BI reports effectively.

  • Drupal Editor

    Develop your confidence editing and managing content on the University’s Drupal platform.

  • Microsoft Excel Core Skills

    Build foundational Excel skills including formulas, data management, and formatting.

  • Microsoft Excel Further Skills

    Enhance your Excel knowledge with advanced formulas, data tools, and automation techniques.

Our BAU provision is temporarily reduced while we continue to deliver Microsoft 365 training as part of the Modern Workplace Programme.

As part of the Modern Work Programme, we are delivering a range of training sessions to help staff build confidence and capability with Microsoft 365 tools. These courses are designed to support everyone’s transition to the new platform, with a mix of mandatory and optional sessions to suit your needs.

    Learn how to manage your email, calendar, and contacts efficiently in the new Outlook environment.

  • Essentials Teams

    Get started with chat, meetings, and channels to collaborate and communicate effectively in Teams.

  • Essentials OneDrive

    Discover how to store, access, and share your files securely using OneDrive.

  • Essentials Forms

    Create simple forms and surveys to collect feedback and responses online.

  • Deeper Dive Outlook Mail

    Explore advanced email tools to organise your inbox and manage communication more effectively.

  • Deeper Dive Outlook Calendar

    Learn how to manage calendars, schedule meetings, and use smart features to plan your day.

Docebo FAQ's

Docebo is the University’s Learning Management System (LMS), where all staff training is managed.

You can find courses in two main areas, both accessible from your Docebo User Home Page:

  • Learning Plans: These are curated sets of courses designed around specific roles or needs. Examples include Core Training for New Staff, the MWP, and Essential Training for Microsoft 365.

  • University Catalogue: This contains additional training not included in Learning Plans. It’s organised into sections, you’ll find our courses under Digital Skills.

To access Drupal navigate to https://docebo.port.ac.uk/learn and select Single Sign-On.

Note: New staff will typically have access to Drupal the day after they start at the University.

  1. Log in to Docebo.
  2. On the login page, select the blue Single Sign-On button.
  3. When your User Homepage appears, select the My Learning Plans tile and click Explore.
  4. Your available Learning Plans will be displayed. Select a plan to view its content.
  5. Click Enrol next to the course you want to attend.
  6. To book a specific date, select Enrol next to your preferred session.
  7. You will receive a confirmation email with a calendar invite. Choose Accept to add it to your Outlook calendar.

  1. Log in to Docebo.
  2. On the login page, select the blue Single Sign-On button.
  3. When your User Homepage appears, select the UoP Catalogue tile and click Explore.
  4. Select the Digital Skills tile and click Explore.
  5. All available course tiles will now be displayed.
  6. To find a specific course, scroll through the pages using the arrow keys or type a keyword into the Filter box.
  7. Click Enrol to view the available session dates.
  8. To book a specific session, select Enrol (Course Sessions) next to your preferred date.
  9. You will receive a confirmation email with a calendar invite — choose Accept to add it to your Outlook calendar.

There are two course options:

  • BAU (Business as Usual) courses.
  • Learning Plan courses, which include the Modern Work Programme mandatory training.

To make the required changes, open Docebo and log in by selecting the blue Single Sign-On button.

 

Option 1: Accessing BAU Courses

  1. From the User Homepage, select Explore within the My Courses tile.
  2. Click on the course you want to re-schedule.
  3. Select the More options icon (three dots in the top right corner).

Option 2: Accessing Learning Plan Courses

  1. From the User Homepage, select Explore within the Learning Plans tile.
  2. Open the relevant Learning Plan.
  3. Next to the course you are enrolled in, select Resume.
  4. Select the More options icon (three dots in the top right corner).

How to re-schedule your session

  1. From the drop-down list, choose Change session enrolment.
  2. Select a new date and time from the pop-up box.
  3. Click Change to confirm your new session time.

  1. Log in to Docebo.
  2. On the login page, select the blue Single Sign-On button.
  3. Once signed in, your User Homepage will appear.
  4. Find the course you want to cancel, this will be listed either under your Learning Plan (for MWP courses) or in the UoP Catalogue (for BAU courses).
  5. Select Resume next to the course title.
  6. Click the More options icon (three dots in the top right corner).
  7. Choose Disenrol from this session to cancel your place.

  1. To join an instructor-led session, choose one of the following options:
    • Option 1: Open the confirmation or reminder email from Docebo and click the link provided to access your session.
      Tip: search for “Docebo” in Outlook Mail if you can’t find your confirmation email.
    • Option 2: Sign in to Docebo and open your User Homepage.
  2. Open My Calendar (you may need to scroll down to find it).
  3. Go to the date of your training session.
  4. Click the dot shown on that date to open the session details (a pop-up box will appear).
  5. Select the Go to Event link.
  6. The course page will open and display a Join button. This button becomes available one hour before the session starts.

LinkedIn Learning

LinkedIn Learning is an online video library of over 13,000 courses covering business, technical and creative skills.  Many of the courses come come equipped with exercise files and assessments.  With Curator access staff can also create their own playlists of LinkedIn videos to share with students.
