

Take part in a virtual reality simulation depicting a developing crime incident and report your experiences to an interviewer.
Study description
Researchers in the School of Psychology, Sport and Health Sciences are seeking volunteer research participants to act as eyewitnesses in a study about rapid interviewing. The goal of this research is to determine how to effectively get information quickly from witnesses who have seen important information in a developing simulated crime incident that will be witnessed via Virtual Reality (VR) technology.
What will participants be doing?
You will wear heart rate monitors to measure your heart rate. You will take part in a virtual reality simulation depicting a developing crime incident, report your experiences to an interviewer, and complete some questionnaires.
Location
The research will take place in the King Henry Building, University of Portsmouth, King Henry I Street, PO1 2DY.
Duration
One 45-minute session.
Participant characteristics
- aged 18+
- speak fluent English
- have normal or corrected-to-normal vision
- participants will also be asked to complete a short screening questionnaire
Reward
Participants who complete the study will receive £15 as compensation (via bank transfer to UK account holders) on completion of the 45-minute session.
