Neptune Building

The newly refurbished building on Lord Montgomery Way will become the temporary home of the Students’ Union while the Student Hub is constructed on the site of the existing Students’ Union Building.

1 April 2026

From Monday 20 April, the Students’ Union will move to Neptune Building on Lord Montgomery Way.

Key dates

  • Friday 17 April – on this date, Students’ Union services will be available via email or telephone as they move into Neptune Building.
  • Monday 20 April – Neptune Building opens and Students’ Union services are operating as usual from this date onwards, from Neptune Building.

The Students’ Union Building will remain open to students over the weekend of 18 and 19 April, and again on 26 April for the student events already planned on these dates. Between these dates, the Students’ Union Building will be closed and will not be accessible to students without prior agreement from the Students’ Union. Instead, students should head to Neptune Building to find Union services and facilities.

Neptune Building

Neptune Building has been refurbished to provide a temporary home to the Students’ Union. As well as offices for Union staff, the building also includes a new shop front and reception, meeting rooms, three commons rooms, two activity/dance studios and a dedicated space for the student pantry. You’ll need your student card to get into the building.

The Students’ Union will host a series of exciting events to welcome students into the new space, with more details from the Union to be released soon. Keep an eye on their Instagram page, or their What’s On page for more information.

Student Hub

While the SU are in Neptune Building, the University will construct the Student Hub on the site of the existing Students’ Union. The existing building will be renovated, and an extension added to connect the Students’ Union and the Library, creating a new heart of campus with SU and Wellbeing facilities. We’ll start construction over the summer, with this continuing until late 2027, when the SU will move back into the building.
