Staff and former students to play dawn to dusk cricket match to raise money for charity

Players from the University staff cricket team, the Portsmouth Academics, will play for a marathon 16 hours from sunrise to sunset on the longest day of the year, in order to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK and homelessness charity Shelter.
On 21 June former students and staff from Student Finance, SCCJ, Business and Law and the Students’ Union at the University will make up two opposing sides for the day-long match at Westbourne cricket club near Emsworth, which has so far raised £1,155 of their initial £1,500 target. You can donate to their Just Giving page.
Paul Meades, who works in the University’s Student Finance Centre, and runs the team with alumnus Jason Manning, a former UoP Politics and International Relations student, said “This match is certainly going to be a test of our endurance and will be a challenge, but we are all raring to go to take it on and enjoy it as well as raising much needed funds for these charities.”
