Work has just begun on the new Cycle Hub, which will bring 336 new secure cycle spaces to campus, as well as lockers and showers available for use by the University community, and is expected to take around 7 months to complete. The new hub is designed to support healthier and more sustainable travel to campus, while enhancing the University’s current offering of secure bike storage across campus.

The site has been designed with safety and security in mind, with secure swipe card access, LED lighting, and CCTV security.

It will also feature a full solar panel roof, reinforcing the University’s commitment to sustainability and an environmentally responsible estate and supporting the University’s ambition to be net-zero by 2040.

Estate Masterplan

The new Cycle Hub is part of the University’s long-term Estates Masterplan, which is investing in a more connected, sustainable and student-focused campus. Through a combination of new buildings and the refurbishment of existing facilities, each project will enhance day-to-day student life.

This includes the redevelopment of the Wiltshire Building, which will provide a more accessible and welcoming space to access Student Services, and the creation of the new Student Hub, bringing together the Students’ Union, wellbeing services and social study spaces in one vibrant, central location.
