A new recycling station on the ground floor of the the Students’ Union takes a whole range of unwanted products and waste for recycling. The trial scheme set up by the Catering team offers a drop-off point for hard-to-recycle items including:
- Old glasses
- Make up
- Clothes
- Crisps packets
- Batteries
- Bras
- Bottle tops
- Plastic bags
- Old plastic pens
The boxes, when full, will be delivered to various local shops such as LUSH, British Red Cross and Specsavers, who will recycle the goods responsibly. The initiative was the result of a campaign by UPSU Sabbatical Officer Hayley Turner-McIntyre.
Nick Leach, Head of Catering said: “This is a great initiative that everyone can be part of – and we do the legwork for you. We will be moving the station around the campus Coffee shops so everyone can access the boxes. So dig out those old reading classes and drop them off!”
