Moving Moodle to a cloud environment will provide a more resilient and responsive system
The migration of our Moodle environment to a cloud supplier (Catalyst IT Europe) is progressing well. Moving Moodle to a cloud environment will provide a more resilient and responsive system for students and staff.
At the start of Monday 18 August, the web address for our current on-campus Live Moodle Environment will be changed to moodlearchive.port.ac.uk. This is the home for modules delivered in the 2024/25 academic year.
At this time, our new cloud-based Moodle environment will become moodle.port.ac.uk. This is the home for modules for the 2025/26 academic year.
It is anticipated that all live ongoing modules where students are still being actively taught will be migrated on Monday 18 August. This may continue into Tuesday 19 August, if the weight of modules is too great to process in one day. Both Moodle environments will be unavailable to staff and students on Monday 18 August so this essential work can be completed.
This will minimise disruption for students who need to continue using these modules during the summer months.
IMPORTANT: Trailing and Exceptional Third Attempt Assessments
Trailing and third attempt assessments should be conducted on our current on-campus Moodle site to minimise disruption for students. This environment will have the moodlearchive.port.ac.uk web address after 18 August.
