Students from across the University learnt how to grow and nurture plants at an interactive and fun workshop hosted by Pot Gang.
Staff from Academic Services and Student Support Services hosted a workshop delivered by Pot Gang to show students how easy it is to grow your own herbs, veg and fruit.
Twenty students from across all sorts of subject areas signed up to the workshop and were guided not only on how to grow their own mint and basil, but also on the health and wellbeing aspects of herbs and of gardening as an activity.
Students planted basil and mint seeds to take home with instructions on how to nurture their seeds into fully grown plants.
Once they’d finished potting up their seeds, we took a break to try some basil and mint infused tea.
Did you know mint can relieve indigestion and basil can help fight infection?
Abigail Norman, BA Business Management and Entrepreneurship student, said "I loved recharging and unwinding in this way, hands connected to nature and heart open to connection with others. The fresh teas and sweet treats were the cherry on top."
Thiery Fonyuy Wirngo, who studies Law with International Relations, added: "The workshop was both engaging and incredibly informative. Additionally, the hands-on experience that made gardening feel accessible and enjoyable. The clear, step-by-step guidance really helped us understand the process, and I left feeling confident about starting my own herb gardens at home.
"Beyond the practical gardening tips, the workshop also provided a great opportunity to network with like-minded individuals. The relaxed and friendly atmosphere encouraged genuine connections and the exchange of ideas among participants, making it a memorable experience overall."
