Startup funding can make a massive impact when starting out. It doesn’t have to be thousands of pounds but that initial investment can not only help you move your ideas forward but can also provide encouragement, support and confidence.

In collaboration with Santander Universities, the Student StartUp Team has launched their latest round of Startup funding, where you can apply for up to £1000 to explore or develop your ideas.

The funding is open to all current students and graduates (up to 5 years). If you have previously received funding from us you can still apply - make sure you highlight the impact any previous funding has had in your development. Whether you need funding to help test an idea, undertake market research or develop an existing startup, this funding is for you.

This startup funding is a grant, meaning you don't pay the money back and you own 100% of the idea.

When coming up with ideas they don't need to be brand new, but they do need to solve a problem, fill a gap or be different to what is already out there. If you have an idea ACT NOW!

The deadline for applications is this Sunday 26th April 2020 (midnight GMT).

Some top tips when completing your application:

  • Assume no one knows about your idea, explain it in a clear and concise way

  • Impact is key, so explain how the funding will help - how will it make a difference?

  • Be realistic with how much you are asking for. If you can provide a breakdown of what the money would be spent on that's really helpful

  • Think about what makes you different - we get lots of applications so make your idea stand out

Any questions, ask the team. We can't review your application before you submit but we can answer questions you may have

“You have to invest a lot of your time and money on your business at the beginning so try & prioritise what you spend money on. Think about what is essential to help you progress to the next milestone you want to achieve - being able to clearly articulate that will really help you with your business planning as well as the judging panel!” Holly Price, Relationship Manager – South Coast Santander Universities UK
