Global Week’s flagship event, the Festival of Cultures, has returned.
This year, Global Week was hosted in our new Ravelin Sports Centre. It proved as popular as ever, with staff and students coming together to explore the different global cultures that form our University through displays of music, food, costume and language.
Festival of Cultures Performance Showcase
Staff and students from over 150 countries gathered for an evening Performance Showcase to celebrate our University’s unique cultural blend with vibrant displays of dance and music from across the world.
Performances included Indian dance performances, native songs from Nigeria and Bulgarian folk dance.
“Celebrating our cultural diversity at the University highlights the incredible contribution our international students bring to us.
“With over 1,000 attendees at Festival of Cultures alone, this event continues to be one of the biggest in the University calendar! I would like to say a personal thank you to all the students and staff who took part and made the event such a huge success.”
Holi Colour Run
Global Week came to an end this Sunday with a vibrant display of colour on campus.
The Holi Colour Run event – organised by the University of Portsmouth Indian Society – celebrated the annual Hindu festival of Holi, which took place earlier this month.
The colour throwing celebrations kicked off at midday on Sunday at Gun House Green. Before long, the staff and students who attended the event were covered in coloured paint from head to toe.
