You could be rewarded for taking part in research at the University with payment of up to £30 or be entered into prize draws of up to £150. The below research ads are seeking participants to support their research studies, and some won’t even require you to leave the comfort of your own home.


Do lie tellers remember specific details of a witnessed event over time?

 

This is a three part study that will take place over three weeks and aims to test the memory of truth tellers and lie tellers over time.

Incentive: £30 after the third session and the possibility of being entered into a prize draw to win £150, £75 or £50

In person or virtual: Virtual

You need to be: Over 18

You’ll need to: Fill out pre-interview questionnaires, watch a videotaped event, and you’ll be asked to truthfully or falsely recall what happened in the video over three separate sessions.

Help identify Covid-19 hotspots

 

This project looks at the movements of students and staff in Portsmouth where there is a high-risk of catching the disease to understand how it spreads and guide people away from high-risk zones.

Incentive: Assist the University and city with risk management and improve understanding of Covid-19

In person or virtual: Virtual - online survey

You’ll need to: Download an app to track your movements and regularly make use of the University's free Covid-19 testing programme, as well as complete an online survey each week.

The impact of Covid-19 on sustainability

 

This project seeks to understand the changes that occurred in consumers’ sustainability during Covid-19 and the reasons for these changes

Incentive: Enter a prize draw to win one of 5 voucher prizes of £10

In person or virtual: Virtual - online survey

You’ll need to be: Aged 18-69 and have bought groceries at least once during the first lockdown period (between 23 March and 15 July 2020) up until the reopening of non-essential shops

Research Study on Alcohol Use

 

This study aims to learn more about the cognitive processes which underlie alcohol consumption.

Incentive: £15 after completing the study

In person or virtual: In person

You need to be: Aged between 18 and 55, have good physical and psychiatric health and regularly drink alcohol (i.e once per month)

You’ll need to: Attend a study session for approximately 2 hours, complete several psychometric tests, take part in a mild stress test and consume an alcoholic drink.

Have a walk, complete a secret mission and talk about your experience

 

This study is to see how well people can lie or tell the truth about activities they undertake.

Incentive: £10 and the possibility of being entered into a prize draw to win £150, £75 or £50.

In person or virtual: In person

You need to be: Over 18, able and willing to walk around Portsmouth

You’ll need to: Complete a mission involving collecting an envelope, buying an item from a shop and delivering the envelope to a location near the Psychology department.
