Campus cafés receive 5 star food hygiene ratings

Five campus food outlets have been awarded the top food hygiene rating following unannounced inspections by Portsmouth City Council.

Portsmouth City Council recently visited Chimes, Eldon Café, The Hub, the Event Hospitality Team and the University’s mobile Airstream to assess standards of food safety, cleanliness, and food handling. Each outlet achieved a score of 5, meaning the hygiene standards are very good and fully comply with the law. 

During the inspection, Officers inspect for hygienic food handling, cleanliness and condition of facilities and building, and management of food safety. All three areas were found to be either good or very good, resulting in scores of 5 across the outlets inspected. 

These results reflect the continued commitment of our in-house Catering Team to maintaining high standards of food hygiene and safety for staff, students, and visitors through robust processes and day-to-day practices in place across our campus catering operations.
