5 things you're most looking forward to when Covid restrictions ease
We recently asked students in our Student Facebook Group what they are looking forward to doing once lockdown restrictions start easing.
With some restrictions loosening from Monday 29 March and the Government Roadmap out of lockdown released many of us are thinking about the future and more of a return to normality over the next few months.
1. Seeing friends and family
From Monday (29 March) we’ll be able to meet up in groups of six or two households outdoors and in private gardens just in time for the longer, warmer days of Spring! After a long, cold and restricted winter many of you said you couldn’t wait to start meeting up with friends again and family that you haven’t seen in a while. Time to fire up the BBQ!
Being able to see my friends! It's been really lonely without them and I can't wait to come back to Portsmouth
2. Being on campus
Lots of you mentioned that you’re missing face-to-face lectures, being around other students and generally being on campus and in the city. We have everything crossed that we’ll be able to welcome back more of you soon after the Government has reviewed the return of students to campus over the Easter holidays. Portsmouth isn’t the same without you!
Getting back to face to face lectures and especially societies! Missing being part of a team working together to achieve amazing things.
It’s no surprise that after being cooped up for so long, many of us are just looking forward to being somewhere else! Going travelling and going on holiday were popular answers. As long as we keep going the way we’re going and international travel hopefully starting up again from 17 May, with any luck we'll be jetting off somewhere exotic soon.
I want to travel somewhere I haven't been before with my friends.
4. Going out
Whether it be a nightclub or a cafe, or even just fish and chips on the beach, you’re all excited to just get out the house and do something. Outdoor seating at cafes and restaurants will be opening from 12 April and will be open for indoor dining from 17 May. Finally, a reason not to stay in pyjamas all day!
Honestly just small things like going to the cinema or to a restaurant (gotta spend those built up clubcard points somehow)
5. Sports and exercise
Some may not have missed this but it’s definitely important to some people to stay active and a few of you said you were looking forward to playing sports again and gyms opening. The good news is that from 29 March outdoor sports facilities will be opening followed by gyms reopening on 12 April so you can get back to doing what you love.
Very looking forward to the gym reopening for sure! Haven't had a proper workout since the lockdown and I really would love to go back to gym life!
