Christmas Holiday opening times

Our normal opening hours are Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 5.00pm and on Friday 8.30am to 4.00pm. Holiday hours remain the same.

Christmas closing dates and times:

• The Terrace Café, Library Coffee Shop, The Hub and Eldon Café close Friday 19 December at 3.30pm.
• Portland Coffee Shop, Chimes Restaurant, Park Coffee Shop and Pitstop Coffee Shop close Friday 19 December at 3.00pm.

Re-opening dates and times:

• The Hub and Terrace Café will re-open on Monday 5 January 2026.
• The remaining outlets will re-open on Monday 12 January 2026.

The Careers and Employability Service has temporarily moved to the Library.

• 9.30am to 1.00pm, Monday to Friday – online appointments only
• 1.00pm to 4.00pm,  Monday to Friday – online and in-person appointments (available from University Library).

Christmas hours:

The Careers and Employability Service desk (currently in the University Library) closes at 3.00pm on Friday 19 December.

Careers will be back from Monday 5 January, and relocated to Careers Centre in Rosalind Franklin East building. From the 5 - 9 January, the Careers Centre will open from 1.00pm - 4.00pm with virtual appointments available in the mornings.

On Monday 12 January, Careers will return to full term-time opening hours. 9.30am - 4.30pm.

Our normal working hours are 9.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Thursday, and 9.00am to 4.00pm on Friday.

As we are a small team, you may have to wait in the Chaplaincy Lounge if we are busy and there is nobody else around. If you want to find out when we're free, email chaplains@port.ac.uk and ask to book an appointment.

Christmas hours:

Chaplaincy will close at 4pm on Friday 19 December and reopen at 9am on Monday 5 January. Prayer Rooms will be closed throughout, but the Chaplaincy Centre will open for Friday Prayers on 26 December and 2 January.

Between Monday 22 December - Monday 5 January, there will be no International Student Advice service available.

Please be aware, there will be less support available during this period - as there will only be one member of staff working.

Please note that 24/7 resumes from 8.00am on the morning of Monday 12 January.

The MyPort Hub normal hours are 8.30am to 5.00pm Monday to Thursday, and from 8.30am to 4.00pm to Friday.

Please note that it's really important that students who might require financial support with essentials such as food apply as soon as possible. Contacting us at the last minute will compromise our ability to assist. Students can apply for support here (deadline is 5.00pm Thursday 18 December).

• Student Wellbeing will be operating normal working normal hours until close of business on 19 December (4pm Friday closure).

Shop and Reception will be closed:

• Friday 19 December (4.00pm) - Monday 5 January (10.00am)
• Last date to order in time for Christmas is Thursday 18 December (12pm).

Student Advice:

• Advice will close with the rest of the Union from the 19 December at 4.00pm. They will be back online and open on 5 January at 10.00am.
• However, during Christmas they will have an out of office, which will provide immediate and local support information and will have a welfare pack attached.

The University bus finishes on Friday 19 December 2025, and the service will return on Monday 12 January 2026.
