University services over the holidays
University opening hours over the Christmas break
Here’s when different services will be closing during the Christmas break.
Term resumes on Monday 13 January 2025. All academic year dates are available on MyPort.
Security will be available to help with University-related emergencies by calling 023 9284 3333.
Upcoming opening hours
Here are the full changes in place over the holiday period.
Our opening hours are Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 5.00pm and on Friday 8.30am to 4.00pm. Holiday hours remain the same except for the Christmas closure period (Monday 23 December to Wednesday 1 January 2025 inclusive).

Our campus cafés are closing at 1.30pm on Friday 20 December 2024, with the exception of Ravelin Sports Centre.
The Hub and The Terrace will be open from 8.30am until 3.00pm on Thursday 2 and Friday 3 January 2025.
The Hub and The Terrace will be open from 8.30am until 3.00pm between Monday 6 and Friday 10 January 2025. Eldon Café will also be open that week between 8.30am and 3.00pm.
Normal service will resume with all campus cafés from Monday 13 January 2025.
Closing at 4.00pm on Friday 20 December 2024 and re-opening 9.30am on Thursday 2 January 2025.
Our building will be closed due to essential repair work and services will be online-only between Thursday 2 January and Friday 10 January 2025.
The building will re-open and full service will resume from Monday 13 January 2025.
Chaplains – working until 4.00pm on Friday 20 December and available for support again from 9.00am on Thursday 2 January 2025 (online only), with normal service resuming on Friday 3 January.
The Prayer Rooms for our Muslim students and staff will be open 11.30am to 6.00pm on all weekdays except the Bank Holidays (25 and 26 December and 1 January).

The UoP Global service is closing at 4.00pm on Friday 20 December 2024, re-opening 8.30am Thursday 2 January 2025.
During the Christmas break, the IT Service Desk will be open for phone and chat support as below:
- Friday 27 December – 9.00am to 4.00pm
- Monday 30 December – 9.00am to 5.00pm
- Tuesday 31 December – 9.00am to 5.00pm
Outside of these times support can be found at Student IT Support.
Normal support will be return Thursday 2 January 2025.
The Library Building is operating at a reduced service during the Christmas period. Normal Term Time 24/7 opening will resume at 8.00am on Monday 13 January 2025.

Our Chat Service is available 24/7 throughout the Christmas Vacation via the Library Website.
The MyPort Hub is closing at 4.00pm on Friday 20 December 2024, re-opening 8.30am Thursday 2 January 2025.
Res Life will be closed from 8.00pm on Friday 20 December 2024 and reopening at 11.30am on Thursday 2 January 2025.

The Student finance team will be available during normal working hours, closing at 4.00pm on Friday 20 December 2024. Normal service will resume from 9.00am on Thursday 2 January 2025.
Students wishing to apply for financial support should do so before 5.00pm Thursday 19 December 2024.
The Student Housing team is closed from 4.00pm on Friday 20 December 2024. Normal service will resume from Thursday 2 January 2025.

The Student Wellbeing Service is closed from 4.00pm on Friday 20 December 2024. Normal service will resume from Thursday 2 January 2025.

Union Shop and Reception – closing Friday 20 December at 4.00pm, re-opening Monday 6 January. Emails and phone will be unanswered during this time.
Advice Centre – in-person appointments as normal until Friday 20 December, with online-only appointments on Monday 23 December and then closed. Online-only service resumes Thursday 2 and Friday 3 January 2025, then re-opening as normal from Monday 6 January 2025.
The university bus service ends Friday 20 December 2024 inclusive, resuming Monday 13 January 2025.
