Global Entrepreneurship Week
18-24 November
Global Entrepreneurship Week is a celebration of entrepreneurs in every country and community around the world – especially those individuals who face structural barriers or may have never considered the idea of launching a startup. Careers and Employability are hosting a range of opportunities where you can develop entrepreneurial skills and learn more about launching a start-up.

Every year, our Student StartUp Team run a programme of events to celebrate all of our entrepreneurs. This year you can get involved with the following:
UPSkill Workshop - Knowing your why!
Tuesday 19 November, 10.00am-12.00pm, Careers and Employability Centre
Have you ever wondered why some people are ‘luckier’ than others? Perhaps it is down to sheer luck or perhaps it is down to their mindset; why not find out how changing your mindset could change your ‘luck’? By attending ‘Knowing Your Why’ you'll develop a deeper understanding of yourself and your thinking processes. These skills are vital for personal development and success in any career path. Whether you're aiming to become a leader, an entrepreneur, or simply a more effective team member, this workshop will provide you with the tools and confidence to achieve your goals.

By attending ‘Making things happen’, you'll gain valuable skills that are essential for navigating the complexities of the modern world. Whether you're aspiring to launch your own venture or seeking to enhance your employability, this workshop will equip you with the knowledge and confidence to succeed.
10 Steps to Starting Up
Wednesday 20 November, 10.00am-1.00pm, Careers and Employability Centre
This practical workshop aims to take you through the essential steps you need to consider when starting your own venture. That could be starting your own business, freelancing, developing a product or building a social enterprise or charity. It will equip you with the foundational knowledge to start your business and begin your entrepreneurial journey. This step-by-step programme enables participants to develop their idea into a real venture and have the chance to apply for seed funding later in the year.
Inspire Me - From Student to Successful Entrepreneur
Friday 22 November, 10.00am-11.00am, Online
Our Inspire Me sessions aim to motivate and inspire you by showcasing our speakers' startup journeys and experiences. There will be time at the end for any questions you may want to ask.
Our guest speaker, Josh Robinson, is a 2021 graduate of the University of Portsmouth and the Founder of LMSUK, an award-winning management and events company, that helps to manage social media for musicians.
Support from the Student StartUp Team
Our Student StartUpTeam is here to support you with securing starting your own business, freelancing and developing entrepreneurial skills. We run The Enterprise Programme which helps students at all stages of the start-up process. You also have the option of adding a Self-Employed Placement year to eligible undergraduate degrees.
