Our enterprise clinics are regular drop in sessions where you can receive one-to-one advice and guidance. For the time being all of our meetings have gone virtual, this includes our enterprise clinics. To speak to a member of the team you can book an ‘Enterprise Advice’ slot on the appointment tab of MyCareer.

These workshops provide you with the tools, expertise and inspiration to generate ideas and grow these from initial concepts to fully fledged startups. Our bespoke workshops have helped over two hundred students and graduates per year develop their business ideas.
Led by the accounting and financial department at the university, areas of support can cover but are not limited to:
- Start-up advice
- Accessing funding
- Basic accounts - how to set up basic spreadsheets
- Responsibilities for end of year reporting/taxes etc
- What can you claim as an expense
- VAT advice
- Tax planning
- Setting up financial processes and automation
- Payroll and pension (auto enrolment advice)
Our startup development programme includes four short interactive workshops, ad-hoc specialist sessions, occasional meet-ups and mentoring. These workshops run throughout the year.
Interactive workshops to help make your idea a reality.
This workshop will:
- Test your ideas
- Explore the myths and realities of startups

This workshop will help you identify:
- Who is your customer?
- How do you reach them?
- Basic principles of sales and marketing
This workshop will help you identify:
- Who are your competitors?
- Strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of your idea
- What makes your idea stand out?
This workshop will explore:
- Costing and pricing
- Revenue streams
These workshops introduce guest speakers to present on key business topics. You'll listen to subject talks and have the chance to ask specific questions about your startup. Subjects include:
- Going from a student to successful entrepreneur
- Creating a Minimum Viable Product (MVP)
- Business as a Force for Good
- Influencer Marketing & Brand Advocacy on Social Media
- Fundamentals of Freelancing
Marketing for startups - 7th December, 2.00pm - 3.00pm
When starting a business or freelancing, it can be hard to know how to market your business or to create a brand that will get recognised. Join our Entrepreneur in Residence, Kevin Briscoe, Founder of Briscoe PR, a successful public relations and social media agency, who will talk you through his top tips for branding and how to get you and your business noticed. There will also be a chance to ask questions.
Business as a force for good - 26th January, 11.00am - 12.00pm
With the ever-changing world we live in, more people are wanting to start a business that not only makes them money, but also makes an impact on the world that they live in. Join entrepreneur in residence, Mitch Lee, founder of Mitch's Kitchen, to talk you through how you can create a business with an intention of 'doing good'. This event will be hosted online, there will be time at the end to ask questions.
Influencer marketing and brand advocacy on social media - 17th February, 11.00am - 12.00pm
More and more we are seeing traditional marketing channels being replaced, and people are no longer buying into expensive glossy ads but rather buying into people. There are people who inspire us, who we related to, and who we take notice of. This is where influencer marketing and brand advocacy come in and there is nowhere that this is happening more than social media. Join entrepreneur in residence, Sarah Goodall to talk you through the power of people in terms of social media influencers and brand advocacy.
Fundamentals of freelancing - 15th March, 11.00am - 12.00pm
Have you ever thought of using your skills and knowledge to make money? Freelancing is more about using your skills rather than having an 'idea. Getting to work on a range of projects for different clients, being your own boss and have the independence to make your own decisions. Join us to hear from Emma Cossey, found of Freelance Lifestyle. Emma will talk you through what she wished she had known when starting out, her top tips and the first steps in getting started.
Are you a budding entrepreneur looking to network with like-minded people, find out more about enterprise and entrepreneurship or perhaps you are ready to launch or develop your own business? We are a student-led initiative looking for new members to join the society.

House Hack - Innovation Challenges
The Innovation Challenges are one-day events hosted once every 4 weeks with students from across the UK and the World helping you to network, develop skills and make a tangible impact on real businesses during lockdown.

Amazon Small Business Accelerator
A free, online educational programme for anyone who wants to start a new online business or grow an existing one. The online learning is tailored to your experience level, with a comprehensive curriculum covering website building, selling online, social media, marketing, managing cashflow, selling on Amazon, and identifying growth opportunities.
