If you're starting your University studies soon, our Welcome Ambassadors are here to make you feel more at home and give you the information you need to settle into university life in Portsmouth. Welcome Ambassadors are current students who share their own experiences of starting uni and put you in touch with other students who share your interests.
Welcome Ambassadors have taken a pledge to uphold the Student Charter and actively contribute to a welcoming and inclusive learning community.

You'll find the Welcome Ambassadors on Facebook and Instagram, where they post about any challenges they faced when they first came to Portsmouth and how they overcame them.
Their updates will give you inside information on everything from the best places to get coffee, to how to save costs on textbooks, as well as events you might enjoy, and places you may want to visit in the city and surrounding area.
Expand your social circle
Want to meet other vegans? Climate activists? Commuter students? Fellow bakers?
Welcome Ambassadors post about how they've pursued their own interests, and host chats on these or any other topics. You can join the chat to find others who share your interests and values, so you can hit the ground running when it comes to forming a social circle.
The goal is to meet people beyond your course and accommodation, giving you plenty of opportunities to make friends and find your niche.
Look out for the Welcome Ambassadors around campus during Freshers' Week. And, don't miss their big welcome event a few weeks after the start of term, where you can meet up with people you've chatted with and get to know other new students.
