Microsoft Windows 10 version 21h1 will fall out of support in mid January 2023, therefore you must upgrade to the latest version to ensure your PC remains up to date and secure.

Pre-upgrade checklist 

  

Before you upgrade ensure you have: 

  

  • Restart your computer to ensure it is ready to receive the upgrade. 

  • If you are using a laptop, you will need to be on campus with a wired network connection with your laptop plugged into mains power. 

  • Checked whether you need to backup your data.

  • The upgrade should take around 20 mins and your machine will reboot.

 

Upgrade

Use the instructions below for your device type when you are ready to upgrade your computer. Ensure you have completed the pre-upgrade checklist above.

  1. From the Start menu, choose Microsoft Endpoint Manager then Software Center

  2. Choose the Operating Systems option from the left-hand menu.

  3. The Windows 10 – 22h2 upgrade should appear as Available in the list. Select this option.

  4. Click the Install button to begin the upgrade.

  5. You will be prompted with a notification. Click Install to start the upgrade.

  6. The upgrade will begin. Please do not cancel or close any screens that appear during the upgrade process.

  7. The upgrade is complete when the log in screen is available. The first log in may take slightly longer than you are used to whilst your account is configured.

 

  1. Make sure your laptop is plugged into the power and has a wired network connection. Please make sure you have followed the pre-upgrade checklist.
