Disability Officers at the Additional Support and Disability Advice Centre (ASDAC)
Our Disability Officers can offer advice and guidance to students who have additional academic related needs resulting from a disability, medical condition or Specific Learning Difference e.g. dyslexia. They can review and coordinate additional academic support and reasonable adjustments for your study.
Advice and guidance includes:
- Suitability of diagnostic evidence
- Referral for assessment for Specific Learning Differences e.g. Dyslexia
- Reasonable adjustments to teaching and assessment processes
- Access to additional academic support services
- Extra funding for additional academic support e.g. Disabled students allowance
The Disability Officers are available to review your academic support needs throughout your studies. If your academic needs should change over time, the Disability Officer can review and adjust your individual arrangements accordingly.
Are my conversations confidential?
Conversations with a Disability Officer are strictly confidential. We encourage you to discuss your study related needs so they can consider and provide guidance on resources and reasonable adjustments that will support you.
They will disseminate information about your academic support needs on a "need to know" basis and for the purpose of reasonable adjustment. We will obtain your consent before we do this.
Should you wish particular details of your disability and/or support needs to remain confidential then you can discuss this with the Disability Officer.
