Thinking about Impact
Research England has defined Impact as 'the effect on, change or benefit to the economy, society, culture, public policy or services, health, the environment or quality of life, beyond academia.'
In REF 2021, HEIs were required to submit Impact Case Studies that demonstrated the impacts their research has had beyond academia. This is likely to be the same for REF 2028 and developing strong Impact Cases Studies will be an important factor determining the performance of the FSAH in any future REF.
The aims of this workshop are to provide a brief background to Impact, to dispel common myths and misnomers about Impact, to share examples of good practice of Impact development from across the Faculty of Science and Health, and to kickstart the Faculty's Impact preparations for REF 2028.
