Julian Sawyer, Co-founder of Starling Bank and former CEO of Bitstamp, the world's oldest crypto-exchange, explores how we got here – and where we’ll go next. This promises to be a thought-provoking dive into a fascinating industry. Along the way, Julian will share key lessons he’s learnt from his time studying at the University of Portsmouth, through to the present day.

About Julian Saywer

University of Portsmouth graduate, BA(Hons) Business Studies, 1991.

Julian Sawyer was until recently Chief Executive Officer at Bitstamp, the world's oldest crypto exchange with over 4 million customers. He has been an advisor to the board of the leading Australian challenger bank, Volt and an advisor to a number of financial services businesses in Europe, US and Dubai.

Prior to joining Bitstamp Julian worked for Gemini as MD for Europe and prior to that he co-founded Starling Bank, where he was COO with responsibility for running customer services, AML & Fraud, Payment Operations, HR and Supplier Management. He also held P&L responsibility for the B2B arm, Starling Banking Services.

Prior to Starling, he was a management consultant at Accenture and EY and set up and ran his own financial services consultancy, Bluerock, for 13 years before selling it. Julian is an Honorary Senior Visiting Fellow at CASS Business School's Faculty of Management.
