The way you log into Microsoft Office 365 changed

When you first signed up to a Microsoft account you would have been given an account name and asked to set a password. These were separate to your usual University computer account details.  We have now made changes to simplify the login process.

Please select a tab for Staff or Student information.

New Username

Instead of using:

up1234567@port.ac.uk

You will now use:

up1234567@myport.ac.uk

Please replace the example with your student ID number when logging in. This is exactly the same as your student email address.

Login icon To sign in on the MS Office website or any installed application, you will use this new @myport.ac.uk username.

  • Because of this change you will likely be logged out and prompted to log back in for multiple applications.
  • If you change your University computer account password at password.port.ac.uk, your Microsoft 365 on-line account password will also update - This usually takes around 5 minutes or less, but can take up to 30 minutes to update and will end any active logins.

For those who previously used username@port.ac.uk to sign in (e.g. bloggsJ@port.ac.uk):

Why?

The University is embarking on an exciting journey to provide an improved single sign-on experience for applications and unlock the future benefits of Microsoft 365.

We have made this change to simplify the way you interact with our services. Historically, using Office 365 services required a login that was similar to your University email address and that used an unconnected password.

Now you will be able to access Microsoft 365 resources using your actual University email address and password - which is one less thing to remember!
